We offer courses in Adult Basic Education (ABE), English as a Second Language (ESOL), and General Education Development (GED) to individuals over the age of 18. The program provides skills and education necessary for our students to achieve self-sufficiency and a higher standard of living. The program operates year round with an average of 3 1/2 hours of instruction a day, five days a week. Our integrated workforce preparedness links students to financial education and workforce programs that support their goals and open doors to new opportunities for them.
English as a Second Language instruction (ESL) is one of the main program at Glimmer of Hope. We offer 4 levels of ESL, from beginner to conversational, and also provide English, Spanish and Creole literacy for adults who would like to learn to read/write, and English practice for the US Citizenship test. Dedicated volunteers provide all English language instruction at the center.
Adults wishing to take our ESL classes should come to the center 30 minutes before the first class to register and take an exam for placement.
